Experiencing A Lot Of Chest Pain Lately? The Importance Of Having A Stress Test Performed

Health & Medical Blog

Have you experienced chest pains quite often over the past few months? If you are worried about the extent of the pain you are experiencing and have some concerns, you should talk to your physician about the pain. The physician may recommend having a stress test performed to determine if there is something going on with your heart. Although not always the case, chest pains can signify a serious medical issue, such as coronary artery disease. It is important to know if you have this serious condition and that is why you should agree to take the stress test.

What Can Cause the Coronary Artery Disease to Develop?

Even if you feel like you are too young to develop coronary artery disease, it is something that can happen to both men and women, regardless of their age. While it does tend to develop more often in aging men, it is not very uncommon for women to receive diagnoses for this condition. Aside from age, there are plenty of factors that can contribute to the development of the disease. Those who smoke cigarettes, have high blood pressure, or are overweight do have a greater risk of being diagnosed with coronary artery disease.

Why Is It Important to Get a Stress Test Done?

The stress test will help provide you with a diagnosis. If you do have coronary artery disease, it will be easier for the physician to detect the disease based on the results that come directly from your stress test. It is so important to have the test performed when you are experiencing random and uncomfortable chest pains for extended periods because you need to get to the root cause of the pain and then figure out what you can do to treat anything you are diagnosed with.

If you receive the diagnosis for the disease after the stress test is performed, the physician can go over treatment options with you. Some treatment options are simple and include making some changes to your lifestyle, such as eating healthier and getting in better shape. However, you may need to start taking medication to protect your heart.

After experiencing chest pain for quite some time, visiting with your physician should be your main priority. Your physician may want you to undergo a stress test, a type of test that is performed to help diagnose patients with specific heart-related conditions, such as coronary artery disease. You need to have the test performed to find out if you are suffering from such a serious disease because then you can work on treating the disease to the best of your ability.

Outstanding In-Home Care

When my mother fell at home and broke her hip, we all thought that we were going to have no choice to put her in a nursing home when she got out of the hospital. My mother had always asked us kids to avoid putting her in any kind of home, but we didn’t know what else we could do. None of us were capable of giving her the kind of rehabilitation and care that she needed. Then her doctor suggested that we find out if her insurance covered in-home care. I didn’t even know that that was an option. I was pleased to discover that in-home care was covered by her plan. Now she gets great care from nurses and nurse assistants that come right to her in her home, where she wants to be. It’s a great option, and I’m so glad we have it.
