Do You Or A Loved One Need A Hyperbaric Chamber? Get Information Here

Health & Medical Blog

Did you know medical experts can use oxygen to treat many conditions related to low blood oxygen levels? That's right. The process involved here is known as oxygen therapy. It's associated with many positive outcomes, including better moods, stamina, sleep, and mental alertness. Moreover, some studies have linked oxygen therapy to increased survival rates in patients using oxygen for 15+ hours per day. But you need special equipment to enjoy the fantastic benefits of this treatment option, one of which is hyperbaric chambers. Keep reading to learn more about these devices and how to get them.

What is a Hyperbaric Chamber?

A hyperbaric chamber is a piece of equipment that allows your lungs to gather more oxygen than they would otherwise get from breathing normal air. The reason for that is the air pressure in these oxygen therapy chambers is considerably higher. Consequently, hyperbaric chamber patients enjoy increased air circulation in all their organs and tissues. That is crucial since the human body needs oxygen to heal efficiently. Medical professionals use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to tackle many health issues, including cyanide poisoning, arterial gas embolism, severe anemia, sudden deafness, crushing injury, and brain abscess.

Types of Hyperbaric Chambers

Oxygen therapy is reliant on the following types of hyperbaric chambers:

1.       Monoplace hyperbaric chambers

A monoplace hyperbaric chamber is designed from transparent acrylic glass and can only hold a single patient at a time. These chambers are pressurized and filled with pure oxygen. That means patients use them without a mask or hood. All they have to do is lie on the chamber's bed and breathe. Most monoplace oxygen therapy chambers come with trained hyperbaric technicians that monitor patients and progress using cameras and intercoms. If you have a condition like haphephobia that prevents you from getting close to other people or simply want to be more comfortable without a mask or hood, this is an ideal chamber for you.

2.       Multiplace hyperbaric chambers

As the name suggests, a multiplace chamber is large enough to accommodate more than one person at a time. That makes it ideal for anyone needing at-home hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a couple of loved ones or clients. Otherwise, this device is better suited for medical facilities like hospitals. Patients using multiplace hyperbaric chambers have to wear masks that deliver the oxygen. Moreover, these chambers come with wheelchairs, gurneys, and specialized seating to accommodate people with all sorts of needs and preferences.

Need a Hyperbaric Chamber?

If you need at-home hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you can buy a mild home chamber or rent one. Opting for a hyperbaric chamber is more advisable if there's no doctor near you and you don't have enough money to purchase a home hyperbaric chamber. Besides, renting this equipment ensures you benefit from oxygen therapy without leaving your home.

Outstanding In-Home Care

When my mother fell at home and broke her hip, we all thought that we were going to have no choice to put her in a nursing home when she got out of the hospital. My mother had always asked us kids to avoid putting her in any kind of home, but we didn’t know what else we could do. None of us were capable of giving her the kind of rehabilitation and care that she needed. Then her doctor suggested that we find out if her insurance covered in-home care. I didn’t even know that that was an option. I was pleased to discover that in-home care was covered by her plan. Now she gets great care from nurses and nurse assistants that come right to her in her home, where she wants to be. It’s a great option, and I’m so glad we have it.
