Skin Tightening Procedures That Can Tighten Skin On Your Face And Body

Health & Medical Blog

If you have loose skin on your neck or other visible areas due to aging or weight loss, you may be looking for ways to tighten your skin to make you look younger. If you have loose skin anywhere on your body, it can be uncomfortable and embarrassing.

In some cases, surgery could be the best way to tighten your skin by pulling it tight and removing the excess. If your loose skin isn't severe and you want to avoid surgery, ask your doctor if one of these skin tightening procedures is right for you.

Skin Tightening Procedures That Use Heat

Ultrasound, laser, and radiofrequency treatments are used for skin tightening. These treatments deliver heat deep into your tissues to tighten skin and cause your body to create more collagen as it works to repair damage from the heat. You might get results after a single treatment, but it may take a few months for the collagen to rebuild so that you notice a difference.

It's also common to need multiple treatments to get the results you want. However, no surgery is needed, and there is no long recovery period after getting one of these procedures.

Microneedling Tightens Skin With Needle Punctures

Microneedling is another skin tightening procedure that works by stimulating collagen production. This treatment involves rolling needles across your skin or puncturing it with a needle pen to create tiny areas of damage that stimulate collagen.

You can often see results right away, but you might need multiple treatments. It could take weeks to see the full effect. Microneedling can be enhanced by giving radiofrequency or platelet-rich plasma treatments at the same time.

Laser Resurfacing Requires A Recovery Period

Laser resurfacing goes beyond using a laser for heat treatment. Using a laser to resurface your skin is one of the more effective ways to tighten skin too, and you could see results in several days once your recovery is complete. Milder laser treatments target deeper layers of skin to produce collagen, laser resurfacing targets the top layers of skin to cause the layers to peel off.

When your skin peels off, new skin is visible. The new skin is tighter and has fewer wrinkles. The downside to laser resurfacing is the recovery time that's needed while your face is peeling.

PDO Threads Pull Skin Tight

You might combine PDO threads with another type of skin tightening when you want instant results. PDO threads are inserted under your skin so your skin can be pulled tight when the thread is pulled. This is an office procedure and not surgery since all that's needed is an injection site for the thread.

You get instant results from threading, and your doctor is able to target your exact areas of facial sagging to give you the results you want.

Outstanding In-Home Care

When my mother fell at home and broke her hip, we all thought that we were going to have no choice to put her in a nursing home when she got out of the hospital. My mother had always asked us kids to avoid putting her in any kind of home, but we didn’t know what else we could do. None of us were capable of giving her the kind of rehabilitation and care that she needed. Then her doctor suggested that we find out if her insurance covered in-home care. I didn’t even know that that was an option. I was pleased to discover that in-home care was covered by her plan. Now she gets great care from nurses and nurse assistants that come right to her in her home, where she wants to be. It’s a great option, and I’m so glad we have it.
