A Remote Program That Monitors The Status Of Patients

Health & Medical Blog

Remote patient monitoring devices collect data that allows a clinician to keep up with a patient's status. Remote monitoring reduces admissions to hospitals, plus ensures that patients receive the quality of care that they need.

Critical Cases That Require Supervision

Obesity, fatty liver disease, high blood pressure, and heart disease are health conditions that may require a patient to take medication, watch their diet, and receive medical supervision. A configurable remote patient monitoring program allows a clinician to access vital details about a patient, without a patient stepping into their medical office.

Some medical conditions often lead to patients needing to be admitted to a hospital. If a patient doesn't follow the directions that their doctor has prescribed to them, they may wind up experiencing increased pain, organ failure, or another medical ailment that will require prompt medical care.

The use of a configurable remote patient monitoring system will keep a medical provider updated about a patient's status. With the use of this type of system, a medical provider can intervene when needed, greatly reducing the chance that a patient will need to be admitted to a hospital.

Remote Medical Devices

A patient's vital organs, blood pressure rate, and glucose level can be checked remotely. A configurable remote patient monitoring system uses standard medical-grade equipment that can connect to the internet. A blood pressure cuff, a heart monitor, and glucose testing equipment can be connected to a configurable device.

If a doctor chooses to use a remote monitoring program, they will need to assess the status of each of their patients and order the testing equipment that will be suited for each individual's monitoring needs.

For instance, a doctor may have a wide range of patients who require supervision. Each of the patients may have a distinct supervision need, requiring the use of a specific type of medical equipment. Each patient who will be monitored remotely will need to be furnished with the equipment that will be used to perform assessments each day.

If an individual is confined to bed and is being cared for by a family member, the family member may aid the patient in performing the required tests each day. A doctor will receive monitoring results in real-time. A remote program is designed to work with any internet-connected device. If a monitoring session detects an abnormal blood pressure rate, heart rate, or glucose rate, a doctor will be able to intervene quickly.

Outstanding In-Home Care

When my mother fell at home and broke her hip, we all thought that we were going to have no choice to put her in a nursing home when she got out of the hospital. My mother had always asked us kids to avoid putting her in any kind of home, but we didn’t know what else we could do. None of us were capable of giving her the kind of rehabilitation and care that she needed. Then her doctor suggested that we find out if her insurance covered in-home care. I didn’t even know that that was an option. I was pleased to discover that in-home care was covered by her plan. Now she gets great care from nurses and nurse assistants that come right to her in her home, where she wants to be. It’s a great option, and I’m so glad we have it.
